The Blessing Project

We are so excited about our upcoming event "The Blessing Project." We are giving the community of Wyandotte and downriver a gift for Christmas. It's exciting to see many from our core group getting involved to help make this happen.

THE MIRROR

When you look into the mirror, what do you see? Do you see who you really are and are thankful or do you feel frustrated and mad feeling like you don't measure up?

Before we can ever love or serve someone else, we need to first be loved (and receive it).

Most of us can quote John 3:16, for God so loved the world that He gave His only Son so that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

Most of us know that verse in our minds but do we have it in our hearts? Do we truly feel the lavish love of our Heavenly Father? Do we know in our hearts how valuable we are and cherished by Him? Check out these cool verses?

1 John 3:16, 1 John 4:9-10, 1 John 4:16, 1 John 4:18

God's love is more than a high fluent thought or nice children's story, it is a reality that wants to shape the very core of your being. God wants you to rest in your relationship with Him, looking forward to being with Him enjoying His love.

So, how do you know if you have God's love in your heart and not just your head? 1 John 4:18 says perfect love casts out all fear. If you have an unhealthy fear (dread) of God then it probably hasn't sunk into your heart yet? If you often life your life in condemnation and guilt then you probably haven't fully received God's love available to you. If you aren't comfortable in your own skin then you probably haven't fully received the love of God.

God so loved (insert your name) that He gave His one and only Son. Take a few moments today and ask God to pour out His amazing love on every area of your life. Ask Him to take the head knowledge of His love and to implant the reality of that knowledge into your heart. May God's love complete you and fill your life today!

Really...

Have you ever read something in a newspaper or saw a story on TV and thought to yourself..."really." Just like the hard hitting reality of watching "Super Size Me." When you saw the bonus features and watched what he did with french fries you said to yourself, "really? I know there weren't healthy but nothing real in them at all?"

I challenge you to go on a journey of reading what people call the "Gospels" in the Bible (Mathew, Mark, Luke & John). They are the four books in the New Testament that reveal the life and words of Christ in detail.

As you read these four books you will have many "really" moments in your life. One of them is a small but overlooked truth! The majority of Jesus' miracles were done outside of the temple and often to those who weren't followers of Christ yet. You may be asking, "what's so significant about that?"

God's power and Spirit isn't limited to a building on Sunday! For all those who are available and ready God will pour out His power through you so you can reach this world.

Question of the day: When is the last time you read one of the Gospels? It's time for a new "really" moment

Information Overload

Any fact, trivia, story or person is at your fingertips. There is more information easily accessible then we ever could have dreamed or imagined.

However, I remember a mentor once told me, "Jeremy, it's not he who has the most information who wins but he who applies it."

At Wyandotte Family Church we recently discussed the beginning stages of developing a personal growth plan. Selecting three areas in our lives that need changed and developing specific action steps in order to achieve the change.

We are selecting one of our three to focus on for the month November. It's one thing to know we need to change and it's another to do something about it. Let's not get stuck in the quicksand of "good intentions." Let's develop a plan, share it with others and apply the information.

QUESTIONS:
#1--what areas in your life need changed or strengthend? Don't know...spend a few moments asking God to reveal a few areas?
#2--what are some specific action steps that will help you achieve that change?
#3--Which one can you focus on first?
#4--Who can you share your plan with?

RANDOM

Here are some random yet challenging thoughts from Psalm 103!

V1--Let all that I am praise the Lord.
*What would it look like for us to truly give our all to God?

V2--May I never forget the good things He does for me!
*What good thing has God done for us that we have forgotten?
May it produce fresh gratitude and praise!

V3--He forgives all of my sins!
*What sin are you carrying the guilt and condemnation of that He has already forgiven?

V7---God revealed his character to Moses and He revealed His good deeds to Israel!
*Character implies intimacy. Good deeds implies love.
*Are we walking in the shallow end of God's love? How much closer and intimate to Him could we be? Do we know His character?

God, I thank You for Your amazing love, grace and power that is available to us everyday. I ask that you would draw us closer to Your heart and character today. Help us remember how good and faithful You are no matter what situation we are facing right now. May we walk with You and seek You today! In Jesus name!

Ministry or Job?

(Courtesy of Church Volunteer Central)
Some people have a job in the church.
Others involve themselves in ministry.

What’s the difference?

If you do it just because no one else will...it’s a job!
If you do it to serve God...it’s a ministry!

If you quit because someone criticized you...it’s a job!
If you kept on serving in spite of criticism...it’s a ministry!

If you’ll do it only so long as it doesn’t interfere with other things...it’s a job!
If you’re committed to staying with it, even when it means letting other things go...it’s a ministry!

If you quit because no one ever praised or thanked you...it’s a job!
If you stay even though no one notices your efforts...it’s a ministry!

If you do it because someone else said it needs to be done...it’s a job!
If you do it because you sensed God saying it needs to be done...it’s a ministry!

It’s hard to get excited about a job.
It’s almost impossible not to get excited about a ministry!

An average church is filled with people doing jobs!
A great and growing church is filled with people involved in ministry!

What ministry is God calling you to do? How can you make a difference in the lives of others? How can you make a difference in your church?
